F is for Fun… Fun will bring out the happier you… so often we get caught up in this busy serious life… we keep our eye on the prize, and stay busy, keep the to-do lists going, run on auto pilot, and just find ourselves in the same old routine. The dream is real but the hustle is sold separately. Absolutely!! But if you can’t have fun what can you have. Make time to be happy, make time to follow your heart, make time for you. Remember you will never have this day back, so be efficient, make it happen, but smile because it did, and for goodness sake, laugh and have some good old-fashioned fun. YOU deserve it!
F is for Focus… When you have goals, the number one thing you should do to achieve them is
never lose focus of them. Remember why you set the goals you did… sometimes we are so exhausted for the journey we forget about the destination, that is OKAY… but you have to keep going, and you have to keep a laser focus, or your goal will change, and you will never reach your destination. By the way, once you do reach your destination (because YOU can… and YOU will) it will be time to focus on your next goal. Life is about getting one percent better every day, so don’t lose focus.
F is for Fitness… A healthy body is a healthy mind. You have got to keep on moving, both literally and theoretically. Stay or get active- this doesn’t mean you have to sign up for a marathon (although you can), this means that you need to move that body of yours. Go for a walk, do some yoga, sign up for a kickboxing class (my new favorite), lift some weights, or even dance like no one is watching. Whatever YOU do, just move it… I can assure you it’s worth it.
F is for Faith… It is easy to get down when times or tough or when you have obstacles in your way. However, the most important thing you can do to overcome these feelings, and obstacles, is to have faith. Believe in yourself and trust the process. Having faith gives you the power to persevere in the tough times… it helps you keep on going. Trust me, you may not know how it will happen, but having faith is believing that it will. So have faith in yourself, trust the process… YOU will get there.
F is for Full… Fill up on the good stuff- fill up on fresh vegetables, starchy vegetables, whole grains, fill up on real food. Keep your diet in check… you don’t have to give up everything, there is something to be said about moderation. Add many fruits and vegetables, berries and starchy vegetables to your plate- fill up on those. Fill up on love- while it may sound cheesy, love will keep YOU going, so love those around you, let love in, and love this life because it’s the only one you are given. Let yourself be full… of the good stuff.
F is for Fat… Fixate on the good fat, fixate on eating a variety of nuts and seeds, fixate on olives, and avocados. Find yourself focused on this kind of fat, rather than the fat on your body… what you will notice is that the fat on your body will quickly fall off when you are eating the good things, and avoiding those which we know aren’t quite so good. Find yourself re-learning the definition of fat… you will be amazed at what YOU can achieve when you believe… in yourself, in your diet, in good fats.
F is for Flavor… Add a bunch of flavor to your life and to your food… use dried and fresh herbs often, keep a variety on hand to avoid a bland meal. Eat to live, but live to eat, don’t make your food so healthy that you don’t enjoy or look forward to eating. Be aware that your tastebuds do a total reset with the process of neuroadaption, so once YOU change your eating, over only a few weeks you will start to taste food with less salt and sugar in a more refreshing way.
F is for Forever… A diet is a diet, but a lifestyle is forever. When us foodies use the word diet, we are referring to the the kinds of food that a person habitually eats. What we aren’t referring to is a special course of food to which one restricts oneself to lose weight. So give yourself grace and find your balance, work up to your goals, but keep them within reach. Small changes become habits, and we are what we repeatedly do. So make good choices, and find the right diet for YOU.
F is for Fine… which is truly how YOU will be feeling if you follow the other F’s…. and of course, F is for Family- your biggest support system, the people who know you best, don't forget to lean on them as you get one percent better each day.
